I think buying a switch now is a terrible decision. The switch 2 is backwards compatible, but Nintendo has never went through great lengths to port new games to old platforms. That means almost every game you mentioned, marios, zeldas, Pokémon future releases wont be playable if you only have a switch. As for not having launch titles it has the whole switch library if you dont have a switch yet then youll be fin buying your switch 2 and breath of the wild and mario odyssey but unlike the switch, you can also buy and play whatever Nintendo will release.

i feel like its a waste of money to buy the switch right now, you even mention why as your first point. the switch 2 has full backwards compatibility for switch games (minus a few physical things such as ring fit or labo, but lets be real no one is going to buy $60 cardboard) but pretty much since there is backwards compatibility that means that if you buy a switch you just wasted $200-$300 since you can do everything a switch can on the switch 2, plus all of the new things that wont work on a switch

The switch 2 will do everything the switch does but better. Nintendo won’t keep making switch games but they will keep making switch 2 games so you’ll just be left with an obsolete console for roughly a same price I’d expect, and also a less powerful one

honestly in the time you have if you have the 250$ to buy it second hand or something, you have time to save till the switch 2, just be patient. and library at launch doesn't matter considering you have the whole ass switch library AT LAUNCH, even if it's not new games, it's still the same games you would have been playing on the og switch anyway, and they'll play even better than on the OG switch, so no, it's not worth it imo

No I say wait. Every game is going to look better and have a higher frame rate on the Switch 2. If you don't care about that then get the regular Switch but wait for the 2 to drop because the price might go down.

First of all, have you played Pokémon scarlet or tears of the kingdom heck smash isn’t doing good on the system. It needs that power bump. Second of all with the power bump all games are gonna run significantly better on switch 2 along with that send switch two is gonna be backward-compatible and it’s gonna be coming out sometime this year most likely why buy a switch just wait
