Re: Zero is one of the most interesting isekai anime that has come out in the past few years. The story revolves around Natsuki Subaru being transported from Earth to a new world and he is granted one simple power: "Return By Death". Subaru must use this newfound power to save those he cares about, such as Emilia, Rem, Ram, Petra, Otto and Garfiel and more.

Who is Satella and why did she grant subaru this power? What is the motivation behind the witch cult which have members such as Petelguese the sin archbishop of sloth? These are some of the questions I'll tackle on this channel, I hope you enjoy it and most importantly also enjoy season 1 and season 2 of Re: zero and hopefully it does well enough to warrant a third season covering arc 5 (Season 3 re: zero).

My tinfoil hat theory is that because Petra knew return by death Stella would always be active so Subaru would use the help of Spica to take the memory of the return by death, Reinhardt who saw this would affiliated her with the witch cult and confront Subaru henceforth the dialogue that was foreshadow.

wouldnt surprise me if petra was sealed like roy in yin magic to preserve her and pacify satella . it would give subaru a new princess to save since rem is awake and it would make him face the reality of the witch of envy being associated to him and how to solve that massive enigma

I'll be honest here, reinhard may be the strongest swordsman, but unless its about killing the sword saint permanently, he should be pretty easy to be handled, at least by subaru. In the trial from arc 4, the child reinhard kills is an enemy of both subaru and reinhard, so if reinhard ever becomes a enemy it at least won't be by killing petra or mind controling her.

Didn’t the author mentioned before that Reinhard can never be a hostile force cause he wouldn’t know how Subaru could possibly stop him. The only way he was “beaten” by Pride was an ego check.

I don't think they're referring to Petra, since they say "that child is our enemy" and "neither of us can heal"
While I see it as possible that Rainhard would sacrifice Petra to stop the Witch of Envy (although to do so he would have to first find out what made the Witch of Envy wake up, what her goal is, and that Petra was the accidental cause), neither Subaru or Rainhard would see Petra as their "enemy", and I doubt Petra would cause them injuries that would force them to choose to kill her.
By the way, while I agree that Rainhard would sacrifice others to save the world, let's not forget that it would be a "last option" situation, and that he really is a good person who has earned his title of "true hero" with his own actions by always using his powers to help others and never in a selfish way, even when they consider him a monster for it.

I think he will betray Subaru, for a good cause but the effects of this will be negative in the long run. The theory is definitely solid for right now I keep thinking back to that future conversation between Subaru and Reinhard as the chapters go on.

The thing is how would reinhard know that petra is triggering the WOE release without also learning about RBD? even if Petra were to come to Rein and straight up tell him she's the reason it's happening, i don't know if he'll act on that all too quick and kill her without knowing for sure, and that means he'd need to know about RBD.
Actually an alternative would be if rein wishes for a memory wiping/altering DP and uses it on Petra
Also if Petra dies here and Subaru can't save her, Roswaal's promise is going to come to fruition in the next arc, right?

Maybe in the last chapter of Arc 9 subaru use gluttony witch factor to erase Petra memories and I also think he erase the memories about himself in Petra mind so that she did get another danger
