A 28-year-old man has gone viral on TikTok for simply demonstrating normal life. A lot of the commentary on social media is about it being a boring life of quiet desperation. They actually have a point. Where is the guy's wife and kids? Where is his community involvement?

Imagine no drama or conflict. Sounds good to me

I'm a boomer. It just seems like the normal life of a bachelor, he has a job, dresses well, has fairly good food, has a pet companion at home, taking care of himself and his dog, I like him, why do people expect someone to always be living THE DREAM, there is room in the world for people to live a quiet humble existence.

A boring job can be great if you enjoy the people you work with. A great job can be miserable if the people you with are awful.

The narrative of the human race is suffering. I’m 25 but I’m going to sound 67 when I say this…. we live in a time of comfortability. There are people with 200 bucks in their bank accounts and they have a car, AC, gym membership, ect. We take things for granted, and I’m not excused in this, but God gives us marvelous blessings and we go “ok but what about what’s his face? Why does he have more material things than me?”
Seek knowing God and not a single day will be wasted.

I work a 4 day work week, and I work 40hrs a week. 4 day work week does not mean “less hours/less work”. That’s a weird thing to conflate. Working 4/10s. Has allowed me to expand my OWN business on the side, while also having time for myself to do the things that I need to do.

I’m a millennial, 12 year veteran and entrepreneur who works 40hrs for an employer, and owns a business.

Wait until you're 50 and have been doing this for 30 years. The grind is real, but you have to enjoy the small things in life. Pets, kids, friends, cottage on the weekend in the summer. Keep on keeping on - Joe Dirt.

How can anyone comment on this guy's life when they know nothing of his inner life?

We are so disengaged because the people who really work do not have time to be that engaged.

Friday night: date night / see friends
Saturday: rest
Sunday: church / chores + meal prep for the week.

An extra day would allow people to actually expand on their private life versus just maintaining what they have.

This is essentially my life. I have more excitement on the weekends with projects and excursions but my day to day is fairly routine and guess what, it’s great.
I’m happy and content. I have a lovely home, a lovely partner. The idea of any one complaining about such a life is strange. What exactly do you think life should be?
Not everyone wants to be the next superstar or something. Normalcy feels wonderful for those of us who had chaotic upbringings.
Sounds more like people don’t know how to be content so they need to cram experiences into their lives to feel alive and relevant.
But those same people likely don’t feel satisfied very often. Always chasing after something. Freedom is finding peace in the mundane and everyday moments

I'm envious tbh, I wish I had the comfort of an outdoor home, stable work, and pets.

People often forget that boring is good.
No drama.

The only thing he’s missing is a wife and kids

I just turned 41, married for 19 years, two kids. I work a stressful white collar job, 40-50 hours a week on my computer and on the phone in my home office. Kids soccer games and grocery shopping on the weekends. At some point you realize this is life. You must learn to appreciate the small things. Like date nights, a trip or two to Disneyland each year. You learn that satisfaction comes from family and God. This life doesn’t satisfy. Only God can satisfy.

Millennial here: I work 60-80hrs a week. I have a 2 Bedroom apartment. I live frugally. And I don’t have much in the way of saving but I do have a massive student loan. I did everything I was supposed to and I still don’t have a house. Frankly I am all for the 4 day work week if I get paid the same amount and am simply working less hours because I work way harder than any boomer I have ever met. Frankly I would probably use the extra time to work elsewhere, so I could have a chance at the American dream (a house of my own).

The problem with the false entitlement claimers is that they think life should only be about recreation and they are jet setting on mommy and daddy's dime. When mommy and daddy disappear, they are gonna learn real quick everything has a cost that only work can obtain.

As a 37-year-old At the top of my field in heating and air conditioning and a generator specialist, I make great money.
But work from 12 to 16 hours a day. Definitely don't have time to workout. Live off gas station food. Too exhausted at the end of the day is to even attempt to go meet someone. But I'm always happy to have a bunch of rich doctors, Lawyers an white collar homes scream and curse at me daily because there are three degrees too warm. Now that's a normal life for today's blue collar worker.

I'm 67 and had offices but, never stayed in them, always worked in the field.

There was a post I saw a while back that medieval peasants worked 150 days a year because the church believed it was impossible to keep them happy with frequent and mandatory holidays. It’s a double-edged sword, especially for younger people who might struggle to find a relationship in the modern dating age, and all they have in life is work. A lot of people have to work multiple jobs to keep up in this day and age and have no time for anything else, otherwise they’ll fall behind. It’s important to work as God calls us to work, in the Bible, but there’s more to life than just working

I'm like you, I rejected the corporate 9-5 and I am Gen X. I chose to do a bit of traveling, dropped out of college and worked at a fast food job a few years and saved up money. Got a technical degree and worked vet clinics a while and currently do lab research. It might not sound that different, but I have had desk jobs and I thought I was doing something wrong, like how can you sit 8 hours a day? every job I've had I run around. the moral of the story is, if you don't want an office job and a house in the suburbs, don't do that.
I have a home in the country and a backyard of chickens and ducks.

You can’t sum up a human being’s existence in a two minute video. And you certainly can’t capture his internal life in one.
