Lecture 26 - Convolution and Transfer functions

Показать описание
We begin by discussing the convolution product of two functions, and go on to explore some of its properties. We then uncover the deeper significance of Laplace transforms in the study of systems modelled by linear differential equations with constant coefficients. In short, by understanding the response of such a system to a unit impulse (or equivalently, the transfer function of the system), we can predict how the system will respond to an arbitrary force!

This lecture is part of a course on differential equations (Math 207, University of Washington)

I'm enrolled in MATH307 this quarter, and just wanted to say thank you so much for this awesome series. You taught the course in such a way that was really enjoyable to watch, and I loved all of your connections to engineering, history, natural phenomena, and physics. I also would second the idea of investing more into your YouTube channel - this content has so much potential with more exposure. Thank you again!

I have finished this quarter's lecture, thank you for your video, actually this video is much more clear and easier to understand than others' video. The organization is clear and easy to follow. I will suggest you make more similar video! THANKYOU!

Hello. could you explain why you replace t by (t-u), yet sin(2t) you replaced by sin(2u), rather than by sin(2(t-u))? (inside the integral, 13 minutes or so into the lecture)

Thank you for the awesome lectures! You should invest in creating a youtube that gears towards teaching subjects as such.

I took this course in person but I did not understand most of it (got a 3.2). If I could go back in time, I would save a few grands and watch this playlist for free, and really learn. Learning math is better online. College is overrated.
