He wasn't homophobic tho, he was the only one not making those jokes, and he even condemned his grandfather for being homophobic and racist

13 reasons why is probably one of the only shows that actually portray humans for what they are. We like to think if someone is bad they are bad all around and if someone is good they are just a good person but humans are complex. It isn’t just black and white. Some of the worst offenders in history are known to be the most charismatic people. The older I am now and being a survivor of SA I appreciate what this series spread light to. Because they guy who SA me was on textbook a good guy and people found it hard to wrap their head around him being a rapist.

they were depicting reality. bad people and good people aren’t fully good or bad. bro was just trying to do better but that does not excuse the things he did. and he knew that.

I don’t think Bryce was homophobic that was Monty.

For me it makes it much more realistic, at the end of the day even the worst human beings have feelings. And I highly doubt that the series sympathizes with Bryce. The writers have done many scenes attacking him like when he talks to Hannah's mother. Bryce is the worst, but bad guys also do good things and vice versa, the series has a very good point

Man ran a rape dungeon with other football dudes. Any time the narrative gave him the option to express remorse he doubled down. He lied to the court about the rapes he committed.

But we’re expected to forgive him because he’s a ✨🥺misunderstood sad boy🥺✨??
The writers were really out of their minds with that one.

I think the show did a good job of showing how people aren’t black and white, yes he did something unforgivable but to some people he’s their rapist, to some people he’s a friend, a relative or a team mate. Thats what happens in real life whether you like or not.

It shows the duality of humans, that Bryce at the end of the day is a human who had the ability to regret his actions. I say it was great writjng to show his vulnerable side like that, it gave cognituve dissinance to the audience and gave one question: "would you forgive Bryce in this situation?"

Except we had insight bias, we can see Bryce's regrets through the lenses as an audience, if we were in that show as the characters, we wouldnt know what hes going through.

because he had a reason for people to hate him and the entire fan base was intrigued when they noticed themselves sympathizing for him

The fact that the actor who played Bryce was getting death threats shows what a fantastic job he did at creating a detestable character.

People need to learn that actors are not who they play. That’s the sad thing about shows like 13 Reasons.

The reason the writers wanted to be more synthetic to Bryce’s character is Bryce had redemption

1st off, he R A P E D several female high school class mates.
2nd, he wasn't homophobic.
3rd, goes to show you didn't even watch the show, got a merged explanation from a friend who didn't pay attention to the show, or you yourself didn't pay attention to the show.

No it was because the actor who played Bryce walker was getting death threats

Season 3 writers forced us to sympathize and empathize with Bryce, a Serial Rapist, and Monty, who is just a monster. Also, Ani’s inclusion meant NOTHING. It’s more of her being a Stand-In for the writers saying “Bryce isn’t a Monster” when we for sure have seen him being so. No hate to the actors because they both did great but their characters deserved the fates they got and worse. Also: it literally felt like the writers for Season 3 LITERALLY didn’t watch what just happened in the last 26 episodes of 2 seasons
