Most people don't realize how important a knowledgeable producer is in making high quality audio recording. A great producer can make a crappy band sound decent, even with subpar equipment. A great producer will make the best out of cheap recording equipment and knows specific tips and tricks to make recordings sound great on a budget. For example, you can make a pop filter shield for your mic by taking a wire hanger and bending it into a circle, leave enough straight wire to be able to attach to mic, then slide a sheer stocking over it - Boom! Pop filter!

Dude this video has aged phenomenally.

The humility and growth.

Bilmuri started great and is better with each album if that's even possible!

Bilmuri in ATL hands down one of my favorite shows ever.

Let's go!

First started listening to your music in 2017ish, and have heard all the albums since (your songs have played on almost weekly if my parner shuffles music for driving) We got into Sleep Token last year and wanted UK tickets - we were SO stoked and proud to see you were touring with them!

You were amazing at the O2 Arena! - i was upset that we had seated tickets coz i cant not dance at gigs but we still headbanged thru every song 🤘

Couldnt have picked a better band❤

This video is humbling and i hope i can pick up music production again once i have access to my instruments after my move

Keep crankin' 💪🤘❤

Found out about Bilmuri around a year or two ago and love the entire discography. It's really rad to see how down to earth you are about the process and what can help others in the same boat. Good stuff man!

Man one thing I've learned is from acoustic performers. No mics at all, if what your playing and what you're singing is real and from your heart, it's going to be fucking awesome. If it's real and relatable, then finds the right audience, it'll pop off.

The fact you make such amazingly produced stuff just shows how much you've learned and how passionate you are to perfect these things before you bestow them to the goblin naysh

Thank you so much for putting this out. It was the boost I needed to get going on recording and stop worrying about what I’m using.

I too place things on top of my speakers, plants, candles, lamps, etc. The trick is to double sided tape them down. So the things don't get shaken off by the vibrations. I personally like using blue painters tape rolled onto itself sticky side out. Because it's strong enough to hold things down and doesn't leave any sticky residue if you decide to remove the objects.

So damn true - its really easy to get wrapped up into the gear-vortex.

These types of videos are always a great reminder of the fact that throwing money at things won't make it better. Could we maybe get a tutorial on your vocal processing and maybe tips and tricks for good mixdowns and mastering? I personally find that the mixing and mastering part of music is the most difficult.

i've been using the Samson CS mics for everything. They sound great and they're $40 for two capsules, one for instruments one for vocals. They sound almost identical to an SM58 and an SM57. And then that just goes into a Scarlett Solo 2nd Gen interface ($100) and I mix on Mackie CR4s ($150) everything I make sounds as good as the amount of effort I put into it. You don't need expensive gear, guys.

Yeah you definately had a great learning time whilist recording Attack Attack! Self titled album, that in my opinion is one of the best productions Joey has ever put out.
