British guy here:
Jungle music was Drum & Bass mixed with reggae/dub elements ie reggae/dancehall singers singing on top / reggae voice samples on classic reggae tracks/ dub in parts / reggae horns and sirens.
Named after Jungle, an area in Jamaica.
Lee Perry - Blackboard Jungle LP. From the 70s was calling his music Jungle

And named for the music having so many things happening at once.

A notable jungle tracks are
General Levy - Junglist Massive
U.k Apache & Shy Fx - original nutter

Drum & Bass was just pure Drum & the Bass, sometimes with original vocals.

I’m suprised the UK guy does not know that, he must have not been from that time, time around early 90s. Reaching peak in 1995.

Edit: And before Jungle you had/still have UK reggae / lovers reggae / steppas dub (a more militant form of the new dub step)

I’m surprised these guys don’t reference them as inspiration as the slang can be traced back to these roots.
