Keep in mind guys, he said "CAN become an Oathbreaker." not will become one. An Oathbreaker Paladin is someone who breaks his Oath to become more powerful by following dark deities. They are egotistic, power-hungry, evil Paladins, not someone who simply does not believe in his ways anymore. Someone who simply breaks their Oath is a Paladin without a Subclass until he takes a new one

I’m running a Paladin of Sune, he’s a sleezy narcissistic guy the makes sure to love what he does, and that’s; Chasing tail, pinching coin, and Looking good while he does it. On the side he tries to pretty up his party members whenever he can. He started Lvl. 1 as a fighter but the last 2 levels have developed him this way (going glory paladin)

I had a character who was basically an Oath breaker, because they realized that the Oath of Conquest she had dedicated herself to was kind of not good. "Wait, you mean it's not morally right to level towns and commit genocide to spread the word of your god?" and she basically broke her oath, and ended up becoming a major enemy to her Paladin Order. It was awesome.

I can almost hear the quotation marks whenever he says "most paladins"! The emphasis was important because deviating from what "most paladins" do can lead to some really fun characters!

I'd say an oathbreaker is a paladin that willingly breaks their oath, or willingly performs acts in anathema to their oath. Most of them end up pretty evil as a result of most oaths being justice or good-oriented.

I guess by that logic a "evil paladin"'s oathbreaker arc would also potentially be their redemption arc

I remember my redemption paladin broke his oath BAD but the dm allowed my to switch my oath to vengeance. Paladins are really fun role-playing wise if your dm is up for it

For real, he said "MOST paladins" every 5 seconds. So yes, you can totally make a oath of the ancients CE paladin devoted to Malal

I once played an oathbreaker paladin who was not evil in any way, he was true neutral. He made the oath when he was a child to forever protect his small home village. Well, after ten years that small village and fighting wolves was boring. So he abandoned them, and in turn became an oath breaker.
