Artist here!! I’m here to explain why it wouldn’t work, using color theory!! Basically the idea is “if 2 colors are opposites and you mix them together, they balance each other out and make white” which would work, if it wasn’t for the fact that the colors are physical pigments (like dye), and are thus subtractive (they make black / really gross brown if you mix them) instead of just light (like a phone screen), which are additive, and make white when mixed. They are operating on RGB logic when the colors they’re working with are CMYK, and thus it wouldn’t work.

Im a teenager who fell for this scam as well. It is so hurtful because im so insecure about my smile and all whitening products arent working as i have sensitive teeth. I worked my butt off to save up money for that order and spent every cent i had hoping to feel better about my smile. I am so sad it didnt work, all i wanted was to feel happy.

Hi smile is an Aussie brand so we do have laws against false advertising, they probably haven’t had anyone individually sue or start a class action lawsuit yet. And yeah pretty much every Aussie I know knows hi smile’s whitening stuff doesn’t work but everyone loves the flavoured toothpastes, especially me an autistic person who struggles with brushing. I’m assuming they also didn’t have the rights to use that audio from Monster High in an ad which they could get in trouble for

Reminds me of that facial cleanser that kinda looks like stick deodorant that claims to get rid of blackheads and stuff, and the advertisements show it pulling up a bunch of black stuff out of your pores but people who have actually tried the product say that it doesn’t work
