Let's talk about Dragon Ball FighterZ Ranked Matches. Ranks and skill aren't always related, but this feels worse than ever before. What happened to the Ranking System in DBFZ? That's what we're talking about today.

I was the guy that kept rematching people whether I won or lost. The new ranked salvaged what little pride I had left

DBFZ was my first fighting game that I played competively. I never was the type of guy who liked competitive games, but at some point after playing the arcade mode for like 100 hours, something clicked. I started watching tons of content, combo videos, all that stuff, but I still didnt went into ranked.
When I got into it, I started pretty bad, but I had trained so much that I did pretty good up until Majin/SS3, and from that point until now (I'm still Living Legend, so yeah I'm bad) I just improved neutral and reactions. I never had the chance to play against good people out of ranked because Im from Brazil and fighting games here are very very niche, so I dont have many options around here. I dont have a lot of experience, but I loved every step of the way and I hope to keep on getting better.
(Sorry for the long comment)

The problem with ranked is that ui goku exists literally everywhere

Ranks are literally just virtual badges. Play to improve, have fun, etc not for some meaningless badge :)!

"Ranking up to supreme Kai should be pretty smooth"
Me, still at Android: Well, I'm just terrible then.

ngl this is super accurate I don't often play ranked but when I do it can be random as hell. I'm SSR and I run into people that make me wonder how they got here to begin with to others that will beat my ass. Surprisingly enough I feel like I find better players more consistently on casuals than I do ranked.

I remember trying to get free points off of people who kept rematching despite losing all the time (not proud of it), and although it was a smart idea to limit the matches, it’s just so frustrating when you find a really good player you can learn from just to be forced to leave

Also I was there on his last day on PS4, and I’m just gonna say, end of an era

Ranked was fun for me until I hit ss3 and that is when fun left the building.

I stopped playing ranked matches considering how many rage quitters there are....

I'm still trying to figure out how the game thinks that with me floating at Majin and ssgod with it set to "about the same" that god of destruction is "about the same"

I find myself to be kind of lost in where my personal rank should be, on the one hand I manage to beat a god of destruction ranked player into ragequitting but right afterwards I get beat by a demon ranked player (right now I'm a SSJgod ranked player) so it kind of confuses me where I stand

if u think about it, in the anime the difference between whis(angel) and beerus(god of distruction) is so close yet so far. as angels are the only beings stronger than gods of destruction (excluding UI as its an ability not a being). hence it takes a lot to rank up in the final stages of ranked as it would take u to power up in the anime

Truth be told, in my case at least, I've only ever played Fighterz and other fighting games online to just learn how to get better at playing them in general.

And even though my skill has grown substantially ever since I started playing ranked matches in 2016 starting with Street Fighter V, the current online atmosphere for fighting games became too competitive for me personally. I felt like I wasn't learning much when playing against higher ranked opponents in Fighterz and other games, whether it was ranked or sometimes even casual matches. To me it also just felt like that the skill level of a lot of the people I faced online felt too all over the place. I knew my fundamentals and everything, but I just wasn't having fun.

So, just a few weeks ago, I made the personal decision to just go back to sticking to the arcade moses and other offline models in my favorite fighting games. Personally, I've come to realize that I have way more fun playing with my personal friends, relatives, and against a challenging CPU instead of random people online who tend to care more ranking up than genuinely becoming more skilled at the game.

ranked for me feels like the game goes against me, if i use the team i feel i main i fight people who are hundreds of thousands of points below me, while when i use a team im unfamiliar with i always fight people hundreds of thousands above me. ive been stuck in ssj3 for the past half a year due to this weird thing that always happens without fail

LITERALLY a couple of days before they changed ranked to make it easier, I JUST got to Rose. It was my dream rank since starting the game. So when I finally hit it I was so proud and felt accomplished. The change made it so even mashers with enough heart and time can become GoD's. Yup. Lost all ranked motivation. I thought maybe getting to UI Sign would be cool but I just havent been in any rush.

I play this game 3-4 times a month, and while I only played ranked, I gave the ranks so much importance that I stopped having fun. I had a rough time going up to devil ranked, and had a rougher time reaching SSJ3. And that’s when I gave up and decided to switch to casual matches, and I am having fun again. I play people from all levels, and love the game again. All the stress from accumulating or losing points is gone.

I haven't played ranked ever since I got to Majin rank a couple months ago, and at first it was cause I was intimidated by the skill level of the players I was fighting, and was worried that I'd just get de-ranked and get too frustrated with the game overall. Watching this makes me feel like I made the right call, but moreso that I should be proud of myself for making as far as I did, when I did (even though Majin is still considered one of the lower ranks lol)

But what wallet should I use to climb to higher ranks?

I’ve literally washed Great priests and I’m at God of Destruction. Other players just care about points and not actually improving and that’s their mistake
