Great pianist but no one talking about the drummer?? Drives a crazy build and then literally plays the head in his solo, incredible

Sands starts by searching for a groove. Once found, he develops it and rides it past the usual conventions into exciting new territory - rarefied territory, but never loses connection with the original song. A bright, new talent.

That's a beyonder.

Like, how amazing is it even?
Rythmic variations, volume variations, harmonic variations - all this packed in chewable phrases a brain actually can proccess and enjoy.
And pauses between the phrases!
One of few non-brain-drilling experiences of high-end jazz.
Bass line is sooo tasty and soo catchy, wow.
Drums are spot on perfect with volume and exquisity of the rythmics, but not overloading my brain too.
That's true high cuisine.
Amazing.
Bravo!

Awesome. The word Awesome is vastly overused today. But not in this case. I particularly loved the not-quite dissonant opposing runs. OMG. And Kenny Phelps was magnificent too.

Yep Cory H. has another on par peer in the Jazz arena! I found Cory 6 years ago. Now to think today is the first I heard of Christian! A search from Tatum's Yesterdays showed a Billy Taylor link on the side bar discussing Tatum which took me to Billy Taylor meet the young musicians Part 2 (2009) with Christian. Glad I found him!

Legend on the piano and a genius hard at work on the drums. Meanwhile, a bloke at the front is served spaghetti bolognese. The world is one strange place.

Just really hearing Christian play for the first time on a standard. First impression is he very percussive, clear, quick. Not hearing beautiful. The kind beauty that Herbie. Chick, Keith can give. But he's quite good looking forward to hearing more of his stuff. Good to young guys coming into the music. Encouraging.
