Food monopoly! I hope drone delivery will put these greedy grocery corporations out of business. I hope our government steps in to stop these price gougers

Better start supporting your local Costco, they have a had cap on item mark-up and ALWAYS pass on savings back to the members...

When Albertson's bought out Safeway, they closed down the store closest to me, a Safeway, and raised prices. After years of sitting empty, that Safeway has now been converted to an online grocery fulfillment center, so trucks are constantly coming and going, making congestion, at a dangerous intersection, even worse. Which store, that is still within walking distance, will they close now, the Fred Meyer, or the Albertson's? And with their new monopoly, how high will prices go?

How can this be ok'd. This clearly a monopoly. So many Albertsons employees will loose there jobs cause they are gonna close them down till its only Kroger left. Don't make that deal

We need to break them up... not merge them.

I worked for Farmer Jack which was a grocery store chain in Michigan with around 100 locations.... Kroger bought out farmer Jack in 2007 and everyone was laid off. I was told I would have to reapply for my midnight cashier job, but I would be starting back at square one.

This would suck, the fred myers and safeway in my city killed the local grocerer 20 years ago. The fact after they did they try raising prices to stop a new one and lobbied against a new grocery store. So walmart decide to upgrade to a super center and punish them. They still fail corning the town since they refuse to lower prices or stop lobbying the city to stop others to open up. If the merger happens I see the safeway which is the only store with ease of public transist being closed cause the high crime rates forcing more econimic and commuting issues in my tiny city.

A company like Kroger having a monopoly on grocery stores... If you thought your food bill was high now, just wait...

Considering I already have 2 QFCs and a Safeway near me in Redmond, I'm worried they're going to close one of the stores now.

It is A Monopoly and remember they can close stores, and change the structure of Safeway/Albertsons infrastructure.
Makes you think when Fred Meyer/Kroger will change too Ordering Online only🤔

Not only should Albertsons and Kroger be blocked from merging, they must forfeit control over all stores they took over including Safeway, Fred Meyer, etc while being forced to compensate those companies for any and all financial backlash from being released.

This is bad for the consumers. QFC is usually more expensive than Safeway.

I think it's about time for HEB to expand and put Kroger on notice. Whataburger Spicy Ketchup, Butter Tortillas, lower prices and better quality everything.

I don’t even know what the difference between those stores are. They all look and feel the same. They’ve looked the same since I was born.

This is bad. It will have a major impact on consumers and workers for nothing more than limited quarters of what appears as rapid growth for investors, but I guess that’s happening everywhere in America today.
