I can't believe she didn't tuck her hair into her sweater even once

I love the fact if the main character had shown any decency and asked the lady where she was going, maybe they could share, she would have ended up in a cab ride with this super important broadway lady and had time to chat her up and probably seal her career in the other direction.

The fact she danced her way over to the envelope told me everything I needed to know about her.

That moment of Jaime standing out in the rain, "How'd you guys get your umbrellas so fast?" broke me out into a true giggling fit.

I think what’s more bothersome than the fact that the director who wanted the little girls to twerk, is the fact that their parents wanted them to be in a movie so bad that they exposed their children to that.

I was a dancer for most of my childhood and the dance teacher being extremely mean to children and insulting them constantly is the most accurate part of this movie 🤣

We didn't deserve "April Is The Worst" and yet you gave it to us anyway.

I think the worst part about the main character leaving at the competition was that she clearly packed a bag in advance and brought it with her. The abandonment was pre-meditated! Self-centered doesn't even begin to describe her.

"I have to stop insulting movies with low budget. My budget is only 9 dollars."

Exactly. You know what can be done with a limited budget. You can afford to insult them. Especially when it is about what they prioritize and what silly things come out of it.

I swear every shot of Sophia is a glamor shot of her. Like it's weird, she's a beautiful woman but sometimes the just kept the camera on her a little too long or in different lighting as if it was a photo shoot lmao. Like this movie was a way to showcase her facial features

The way she treats the girls is so very bothersome to me because I was bullied by a full grown adult in fourth grade and it wrecked my self esteem for several years. The fact that she does not change and still gets everything she wanted just rubs me the wrong way.

As a person born and raised in Wisconsin, I will say this movies portrayal of my home state is quite accurate. I, too, eat blocks of cheese to feel better about my life. Also, the giant tubs of cheese balls is actually the most accurate. Love Utz Cheese Balls.

Why was the other team disqualified for having a girl over the age of 8, but then that implies Sarah is 8 or younger? So they had an 8 year old wearing fake cups and having a crush on a high school jock? I'm very confused and it all seems sketchy...

During covid we had a day where we couldn't go to the gym in our dance focused PE class. Our teacher asked us to pick a movie, and a few girls went so feral over this movie that we had to watch it. Our teacher looked miserable.

“April is Da Worst” had no business being that good, Jaime 👏🏻😂

Blasphemy! The coach is played by Donna Lynne Champlin, who plays Paula on the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She is an incredibly talented Broadway star with impeccable comedic timing. That’s the only person I’d recognize from this movie, but if you haven’t seen her in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, you’re missing out!

It seems to me like the movie treats the kids as props just like April does in her first dance with them. It doesn't care about the deaf girl, or Ruby wanting to dance, or Sarah and her grief or her chicken cutlet, they're only there so that April can "earn" her redemption by helping the team, so once April gets her life in New York and her boyfriend back, the movie doesn't need them anymore and just drops them.

Watching this as a Wisconsinite who was on dance team is peak surreal because A. We do eat cheese off the block and B. April 100% embodies most of the other dance girls and coaches I dealt with (I was the Ruby of the group RIP)

I wouldn't be surprised if Sofia Carson had a requirement in her contract that doesn't allow her to be (or be seen as) the bad person in movies. Like how Vin Diesel and The Rock have that demand in their contracts where they can't lose in a movie they're in.
