LG G4 Tear Down, Screen fix, Phone repair video

This video shows the guts of the new LG G4. If you are going to attempt a repair of this device, seeing the internal components will make your own repair easier. Make sure to go slow and be careful. You attempt this repair at your own risk.

If your screen is cracked, it is pretty easy to fix it. Just make sure to buy a screen that comes with the plastic frame. Also, the charging port is not replaceable unless you know how to micro solder components.

Hey, just a heads up if you are replacing the screen with assembly. Where the proximity sensor lies (between the front facing camera and front speaker) will be a small rubber insert, this will need to be transferred to the new screen to prevent the proximity sensor always registering something as near. This is due to it reflecting off the glass of the screen.

Great video!! Needed to change my screen out and even going slow and fairly carefully It only took me 33 minutes to tear down old phone, put new screen on and power back up. Everything went perfectly. Thanks for the video, helped a lot but super easy phone to work on for sure. Thanks again

Just replaced screen with frame as per video and suggestion. Went like a dream. Stephen Greenfield's comment re: transferring 'little light grey rubber insert' was only spotted after I'd finished so needed to go back inside (seen bottom left at 3:20). Despite this, great video that gave me the confidence to try this for myself and everything worked out just great. Many thanks.

MY NEW SCREEN DIDNT COME WITH THE RUBBER IN FRONT OF THE PROXIMITY SENSOR:

IF THAT RUBBER ISENT THERE, THE KNOCK KNOCK DOSENT WORK AND IN DARK ROOM THE SCREEN TURNED OFF EVERY TIME I WOKE THE PHONE UP. I PUT THE RUBBER PIECE IN FROM THE ORIGINAL SCREEN ( THE ONE WITH TO SMALL HOLES) AND ALL WORKED AGAIN. THIS VIDEO DOSENT SHOW THAT.

I just broke my camera lense and this video helped me a lot. Only paid like $5 for it and it's extremely easy to replace. Hardest part was finding the screwdrivers. Thank you.

Excellent, I love how simple this tear down is on the LG G4. Compare that with the disposable hardware called the Galaxy S6 Edge; if you can't fix it you don't own it! IPS display on the LG G4 vs AMOLED on the Galaxy phones so no issues with screen burn-in that I've seen on so many of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2/3/4 & S5/6. I'll go for the LG G4 over the S6 Edge any day!
