Angela Stent, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, discusses a Bloomberg report stating a secret meeting took place in December between Ukraine, its G7 allies, and a small group of Global South countries to gain support to potentially create peace talks with Russia. She also talks about the ongoing debate the US government is having on Ukraine funding and what the possibility of no additional support could mean for the country. Angela speaks with Kailey Leinz and Joe Mathieu on Bloomberg's "Balance of Power."

When Russia was engaged in the negotiations with Ukraine back in March 2022 with Israel and Turkey as the mediators, the West persuaded Ukraine to continue the war

The meeting is so secret that the Brookings Institution was informed of it!

The only agreement is for Unconditional surrender. For Ukraine. Russia will dictate all the terms.

What is the purpose of a conversation with G7 and UA about a peace plan that RU would not accept? How do these meetings matter?

I hope Russia will KEEP WHAT THEY WERE FORCED TO FIGHT FOR!

How wars work: The country that takes and holds more terrain than the other wins. How negotiations work: The country that runs out of ammo and soldiers wants talks to avoid total defeat. How the people in this video thinks it works: Regardless of who occupies what, we execute the Zelensky peace plan. Russia is not invited but must silently agree. The bright mind that invents all this is Author of the book: 'Putin's world'. She must have missed something.

"Begin a process of negotiation that wouldn't lead anywhere, where they would be seen to make an effort right into Putins reelection in march"
Hmm, who else could that apply to?

Russia should negotiate for several years, reach an agreement and after that violate it. Just as Ukraine did.

Zelenskyy is running out of cannon fodder. Western allies are running out of ammo. Zelenskyy offensive proved to be an epic unmitigated disaster. Russians rejected any freeze of the conflict. Putin spokesperson said quite bluntly that all Russian goals had to be met (denazification, demilitarization and a neutral status of Ukraine). At this point unconditional surrender is the only practical solution for Ukraine. Hitler's Germany also refused to admit defeat until Hitler killed himself, then Keitel signed unconditional surrender.

If Russia defeats Ukraine they will get rid of all those in Ukraine who opposed them, many sodiers political people will go missing. So it is not a case of should the west continue giving weapons etc the west really have to . Got to show no weakness against Russia.
