For the teleconverter, choose the least compressed Jpeg format. Added a little sharpness in the image adjustment.

I have never used the digital teleconverter I tried it out today to photograph deer in a forest setting. My kit: OMD EM1 Mk iii, 100-400mm f5.0-6.3 with the 1.4 x teleconverter. The closeups were interesting (amazing?). I can see using it occasionally for very distant subjects. I would not use it routinely. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the video Peter. Do you use esp even when you’re shooting towards the light source?

Also I just found out that that great lens that you like can’t be used to focus stack with an EM-5 Mark II 😩

If I am not using one of the fixed aperture lenses I always use "P" mode as the camera always picks the largest aperture, which is normally what I want anyway to keep the SS up. If I am using a 2.8 aperture lens I will use "A" mode

Great tips. How do you set up exposure shift ? Is it in the menu ?

For stills the Olympus electronic teleconverter works better than Panasonic's. On my GX80 I have to turn off raw and then the option appears. It isn't convenient. I have used it for video though, you just switch it on.

When using the digital teleconverter, if you have camera set for both Raw on one card and Jpeg on the other card, will you get both images?

Unless I have got it totally wrong, the tele-converter basically just crops the image to give a zoom effect, rather like cropping in post. Aside from the advantage it might give when using manual focus, does it really do much more?

Peter, the digital teleconverter how it works ??? Do you still have 20 mpx image ?? Or it crops down to 10 mpx.

People are usually quick to Poo poo digital zoom as you loose resolution. It’s handy when you need it but you can’t recreate the compression of the zoom that would have given you the comparable field of view. That limits background separation potential and to me is the bigger photographic drawback of cropping in.

Peter I'm afraid that I must fundamentally disagree with you on metering modes. For me spot metering can be very useful indeed though centre weighted is less so if at all. I find I don't always want balanced exposure across the whole frame, depends on the affect I require.
