Honestly I find the Lich's lifeless world the most horrifying. Like the idea that all life all instantaneously ended without anyone being able to do anything about it or knowing about it.
Everyone simply turned into a skeleton indiscriminately...

i love that adventure time gave us 10 years to develop love for these characters and then starts picking them off one by one.

BMO's death genuinly hurt. He was left all alone in this dead universe trying to cope by dissociating himself from the fact that everyone he ever loved is dead. And in the end he still managed to be that playful brave boy who just wanted to be a hero.
BMO sacrificing himself was probably the best outcome for him tho, cause I could not bare the idea of him remaining in that universe

Do you know what's also kind of dark that I just realized? Marceline discovering she can live off just the color red rather than blood was probably just an accident. She was probably starving but rather than feed on living things, she probably ate the first red thing hoping it would numb her cravings like how people in really poor countries will drink dirty water, because its all they have. Simon really had a impact on her, and we could see and despite what he may think he was an amazing father figure to her.

I think Finn’s alive because the hat is immune to impaling shown by how earlier humans had fur hats to protect themselves from vampires in that one episode of Marceline hunting vampires

My grown adult brother was almost brought to tears at BMO's funeral. So I was I, lol, the writers knew we all loved this lil guy.

Fionna must've been traumatized by the Winter King's death, she even left out tears. She thought she finally found her "Ice Prince", the man of her dreams, but then reality hits her back really hard. Also, the fact that Billy died at old age, means that he was literally so powerful, the vampires and the Lich needed to wait until he was old enough to finally beat him

The fact that there was revealed to be what looks like actual brain matter in bmo just made that scene so much more brutal to me

Most of the deaths in _Fionna and Cake_ screams "emotional damage" when it comes to characters get brutalize (especially for my boy BMO), coming from the fact that this is the same show where one of the Hotdog Knights died after wishing _"I wish to blow up! I mean to get big!"_

Killed Farmworld Finn, Ice Prince getting Thanos’d, The Lich’s wish comes true, Marceline kills a Better version of Martin, Huntress Wizard’s counterpart fatally killed with arrows, BMO explodes and dies!?

This show didn’t hold back. At all. These mamas weren’t ready for trauma.

They really can get away with it too, since this is the multiverse, and laterally anything can and will happen. They arn't technically our original cast so they can really push to limits on what happens to them.

I would like to point out that the Lich technically failed in his quest to end all life. All he did was create a parallel universe where life came abruptly to an end. However in order to do so, that means he created a situation where either the universe was created with a bunch of pre-made “corpses”(meaning no actual death occurred) or he created just as many lives as he destroyed (leaving by him with a net-negative karma score).

He failed to kill his original universe and just stranded himself in an empty reality with no objectives left. That is one heck of a Monkey’s paw.

When the Lich destroyed all life in the extinctworld it was sudden and quick but the death of the vampireworld will be slower and more agonizing. Bubblegum told Marceline during the fight that the vampires will soon run out of food which will result in starvation for them and the end of life in that world. In a twisted way the Lich was more merciful to his victims as their deaths were painless.
