The Summer Olympics should be held in Greece every time. They already build the venue once and can now just do a few upgrades every 4 years. Yes I am a traditionalist so I love the idea.

New Coke wasn't so much a scheme to boost sales as it was to stop production so they could switch the formula over from sugar to high fructose corn syrup without people really noticing. Sugar was (and still is) much more expensive than HFCS which is why they wanted to switch. They couldn't do it immediately or else people would have been flooding them with complaints about the taste being off, so they concocted New Coke to allow some time for people to mostly not know straight away that something was off.

If you have an international section in your grocery store, look there for imported Coke from Mexico in glass bottles. It is still made with sugar there and you can *absolutely* taste the difference between the two if you taste them side by side. The usage of HFCS in soft drinks has been directly linked to the obesity epidemic in the US so it's poisoning people while helping Coca Cola keep costs down. Vile.

That abandoned airport in Spain was used for a Top Gear/Grand Tour episode.

What is your ranking system? Messing up a painting ranks higher than losing billions? And as Charles Harper points out, what's with the container ship clickbait?

I remember when two years ago in year 2021 a really BIG Evergiven cargoship was stuck on a Suez canal in an Egypt, that is one of most EXPENSIVE fail in a history. The difficult problems of the blocked cargoship reached all the way to here Finland. That fail was in a two years ago but I still remember it like yesterday. 🌎🌍🌏🏞🏝🏜🌅🏔🚢⛰️

That train debacle in France reminds me of the IC4 and AnsaldoBreda debacle in Denmark... its quite a story.. from how one of the train sets ended up with Danish markings and turning up in the possesion of Gaddafi in Libya, to the danish rail carrier that was suppose to recieve them looking at the state of completion (which was nowhere near to the specification promised), vowing to try and fix the mistakes (and barely making them drivable) to the fact that they got slated to be phased out 10-20 years earlier than planned because of said mistakes.

I would love a list of cities that actually BENEFITED ten years later from hosting the Olympics.

As a resident of Massachusetts and former worker in the great city of Boston I and likely many other in this area are extremely glad the Olympics will be somewhere else in 2024. Instead of spending all this money renovating a different city every time the olympics are held, why not just pick one city and stick with it? The money saved could be better used elsewhere.

Errata - JPL is NOT owned by NASA. JPL is a Federally-Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) owned and operated by Caltech and contracted with NASA, which provided the vast majority of JPL’s funding.

New coke craptasticness was due to moving from cane sugar to high fructose corn syrup for the sweeter
