Very nice video. I did live in Michigan some time ago. I thought it was a great place to live. Moved back to southwestern Ontario so I still get to Michigan for shopping, sporting events, etc. Love northern Michigan and Detroit. 👏👏👏🥰

I lived in SE MI most of my life, but now live in Central FL. Not everything is great in Central FL, but weather, infrastructure, taxes, cost of living, and outdoor living is much better. Don't really miss MI much except friends and visit MI in summer to take a break from FL humidity that lasts 7 months.

Please with the weather, I have said this before the most populated cities are just as cold in the winter as Detroit, New York city has 8.5 million people living there, no one ever put the cold stigma on them, they have blizzards over there while we be chillin in Detroit hoping they be alright. People love NYC because of the infrastructure.

We need infrastructure and trains also to connect our region. South East Michigan is to dam big not to have subways and El trains and commuter rail. Why is it that Chicago can build and extension of their train from 95st to 130th making their city even more world class but Detroit cant even build one little train from the airport to downtown which would change everything.

Also Chicago, Philly, DC, Baltimore, Ohio, Wisconsin, Kansas city, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, etc are cold weather cities in the winter...take your pick, not just Detroit. Now the cities that are warm in the winter have the worse weather, the southern cities with wild fires, tornadoes and hurricanes. When it is hot and sunny in Detroit even in the spring, summer and fall I'm always hearing how cold it is in Detroit. I wish people would use a different excuse to avoid it than that one.

I'm OK now, I just had to get that off my chest🙂

Great video as usual, thanks, balanced, and fairly presented, one thing that should be noted however, that regardless of which state you go to, even ones without any state income tax, they tend to hit you another way, that the other doesn’t have in the end. Often it’s through sales taxes, being higher than in Michigan, , or various insurance taxes that Michigan may not have They’re not all that much cheaper, there might be a few, but the majority, if they don’t get you one way, they get you another way, And disguise it. Overall, it’s hard to beat. Every state tries to find revenue the best way they can generate it, rather or overtly to you, or through a more disguised form. often states with high tourism generally get, those additional revenue generations through their tourists, which tends to be a bonus for a full-time residence as everybody pays, also often highways and toll taxes which Michigan doesn’t have, can really add up in other states.

No city in MI has adequate mass transit. Detroit has a city income tax. Metro Detroit has a great freeway system with no entrance ramp more than a couple miles away though. Central FL basically has no east/west freeway system. About any city is 90 minutes away with long waits at major intersections.

One pro you didn't mention is that most homes have basements. That's not true in all states.

Why does the title say Detroit, but the video is about the whole state?

Pro's of living in MI: you're not living in Ohio
nice color season
Varied topography, sand dunes, lakes, small mountains, the UP

Con's - you get about 16 days of sun per year. The sky is always grey and crappy. When does the sun shine? the absolute coldest and hottest days of the year. -20 degrees and sunny sucks butt, so does 95 and sunny.

Fences are not common place? I lived in Detroit, Livonia, Farmington Hills, and Fenton. I had a fence in every yard. Just don't buy a house in an HOA. In any state. Only a fool would do that.

Detroit suckssss lack of good groceries store and companies that make living convenient the roads are a mess. All neighborhoods look the same. Better off in troy or Birmingham
