Can migrant journalists succeed in the German media?

Показать описание
Meet Nyima Jadama, a Gambian refugee with a big dream of making it big as a journalist in Berlin. Nyima already worked as a journalist in The Gambia but since moving to Germany, she has faced a number of barriers to entering the media industry. In this video, you'll learn about the hoops migrants have to jump through to be taken seriously in an industry that's yet to truly reckon with its representation and diversity problem.
After learning about the need for diversity in the news media in Episode 1 of this two-part mini series, Nyima's story of both struggles and successes as a Black, Muslim, migrant woman in the German media world is essential viewing for anyone interested in current affairs and the media.
This series is designed for those working with youth, students, and young journalists to spark evidenced and insightful discussions about diversity and representation in the media and, ultimately, the impact this has on society as a whole.
This video was produced and adapted by the non-profit organization Migration Matters e.V. for the I Am European project, which has received financial support of the European Union.
