The success and milestone of Sora-chan is the success of Hololive in itself. As many have already commented in other clips, from 13 loyal knights to a million viewers, listeners, and Soratomos. Both Soda-chan and A-chan have worked hard for 5 years, and without them, we wouldn't be here in this community.

Surprisingly, apart from Kizuna Ai. I think Sora is the only one from the "OG generation" of Vtubers that have reached 1mil. The others are still at around 800k at most.

It really took Sora this long to get her 1mil. Even the Hololive channel got to 1mil before her. Glad that she finally reached this milestone.

It's a beautiful day for Hololive fans. Even if you don't consider her your oshi, Sora's success and happiness is felt and celebrated by everyone in COVER, and that trickles down to us. Also, she's the very foundation of the Hololive Idol Project, and of the longest running vtubers in the industry, so it's really cool to see her still hitting these milestones. It's no wonder why everyone treats her like a goddess.

Stay with me here. I know reading is hard but bear with me.

She is *the* Daisenpai. The first. The foundation. In the years following her, many have surpassed her in subcount, and as Hololive fandom grew from the memes and clips that filtered out, many of the newcomers never really delved back into the channels of those that came before (heck, some of the new holomems themselves don't know their history; just look at Kronii not knowing who Kaichou was [although with Kronii's ability to troll, who knows how real that was]). The West largely found out about HL after Miko's echo incident, or from Korone being Korone (eekum bokum was bloody everywhere let's be honest) or in my case from AsaCoco and Kaichou's Old McDonald parody.

But the holomems that stayed out of the limelight, stayed away from controversy never really seemed to get their time to shine. The quiet ones, the ACTUALLY seiso ones (yes, I know Soda has a mischievous side but you know what I mean when compared to say...Marine or Chloe, or even Pekora) from the older generations never got the boost they kinda deserved IMO. The loud ones, the kusogakis, the fanservicers, and the "chad memers" get the attention because at the end of the day, that's what gets served to the outside audience. And people being people, once they find their niche, they rarely if ever go outside it (that's partially why so many Stars fans worry about StarsEN, because much like economics, "trickle down" is often bullshit) and that tends to mean many genuinely fantastic talents like Soda go under the radar the vast majority of the time.

So to circle back to my point, Sora's 1M achievement is a real earned milestone because it's indicative, at least to me, that her hard work and talent alone is driving her viewership, not memes, not outrageous clips (although the falling out of her chair one is a cracker, NGL), not her being a kusogaki, just Sora being wholesome, talented, and fun. Viewers saw her in collabs, or concerts, and slowly drifted into her streams to find an amazing person who really cares for her career, for her fans, and for people in general. A warm hearted girl who bears the (sometimes too much) respect of (currently) 67 talents across 5 branches, that are there because she took the first step. No matter who you are, that knowledge has to be immense, yet Sora bears it with a smile, a giggle, and a song.

To my mind, 1M isn't nearly enough. But I also know that Sora wouldn't want an inflated sub count just for being the first. She's just that kind of person. This milestone, to me, means more than breaking 4M (Gura), or reaching 1M in just a month (Kobo). Because while those are amazing achievements that deserve recognition, to my mind there's more to those numbers than the talents hard work. For Gura, it's at least partially because people have "forbidden knowledge" and because as the kusogaki songstress of EN, she appeals to a bigger (and weirder) demographic. Kobo is...well, just watch any Kobo stream and you'll quickly realise the appeal there. I'm not saying they don't work hard or deserve their success any less than anyone else, but when it comes to them versus someone like Soda-chan? Well, frankly I think we're doing this precious person dirty to some extent.

Anyway. Congrats to Soda, congrats to those who hurt their brains reading more than four words to get this far, and here's to 2M and beyond for Soda soon (without another 5 years if possible LOL)

When i first started watching hololive sora was at around 500k and only fubuki pekora and korone were at 1M
Now, more than half of hololive is past 1M with pekora marine and fubuki approaching 2M
