More than three thousand people in the New South Wales Central West are being told to prepare to evacuate their homes.

Major flood warnings are in place for areas around the Lachlan River – near Forbes.

The Wyangala Dam is overflowing at 104 per cent capacity as a result of torrential rain – putting the river at risk of swelling to 10.55 metres by tomorrow.

Forbes residents have been told to prepare to evacuate – with as many as 500 locals in low-lying areas at possible 'risk of inundation.'

The State Emergency Service has received 120 calls for help from Forbes residents in the past 24 hours.

Around six thousand sandbags have been used to fortify homes.

The SES has warned 'the situation is likely to change and it can escalate quickly.'

Sky News Australia discussed the issue with Forbes Mayor, Phyllis Miller.

Tim Flannery is unsurprisingly silent about his failed always in drought prediction. I WONDER WHEN HE WILL APOLOGISE FOR HIS HYSTERIA.
