Great presentation by Ms. Guo addressing the potential implications of Artificial Intelligence. I definitely agree with her on how the possibilities A.I. along with how such is largely a political question as much as a technological one. She additionally does present the entire picture giving a good overview of the pros and cons of different political approaches along with begging us what role the government must have as we move towards all this. From my experiences and research, I tend to think the governments react very slowly and will not be able to react to whatever developments A.I. offers since the political process is often gridlocked and the changes are happening so fast to the point where significant changes can happen in fractions of seconds before people can even make emergency political decisions. An interesting question is whether A.I. will free us from totalitarian governments or be used by them to constrain us further. I don't believe super intelligent A.I. will be possible as I see consciousness limits to such along w/ the computational methods which A.I. is based off can be good for narrow intelligence but far too limited in complex situations which humans can navigate. The biggest warnings on A.I. should still be heeded as it can greatly increase income & wealth inequality between those who have and don't have such technology; or be a threat to humanity even without consciousness if it's hacked into or given the wrong goals.
