I've been a serious photographer for 40 years. My first two cameras were an old film Leica I inherited from my Dad and an Olympus OM-1. Then I moved into decades of Nikon - three Nikon cameras, and a collection of, most recently 15 Nikon primes. Last year, I got a used Leica SL and the 75 SL prime followed by two Mint R lenses adapted to the SL. I became so enraptured, all my Nikon gear (which I cherished) fell dormant. A month ago, I sold my entire Nikon collection, just bought a Q2 to complement my SL and plan to by a couple more vintage R lenses to round out my collection. I am not wealthy. All of this has taken me out on a limb - a somewhat terrifying one. But I am fully in love with photography in a very new and invigorating way - something about Leica.

I changed my A7RIII for a M262 + 28 + 50. Period. And I must say that it's an absolute pleasure to come back to basics. Manual focus, delicious shutter sound, simple settings. So pleasant, so relaxing. The M tels you : take it easy man, and take your time. Less gear is more pleasure for sure.

I love how Andreas says the things he doesn't like about the company's products (like his comment on the Visoflex). That to me is the mark of someone who loves and cares intensely about what they do.

I don’t normally watch videos this long and even though I don’t own a Leica I thoroughly enjoyed watching this chat. Many thanks for sharing it

Nice talk with Dr. Andreas. Quite interesting and a fantastic interview.
As Andreas says, Anyone grabs a Leica it's connecting to making history. I agree too I am connected to history too and they are in my photography.
Well, My first Leica camera M6, which I got during 1998 had given me a great opportunity to change my aspect of photography. Leica Camera has shaped up a lot of documentary and journalistic style photography. That is my area of interest in Photography. As my base was Paris I had a much more active routine in photography.
I am now working on all archive photography to put into a book and I am happy I changed my cameras NIKON and Hasselblad into Leica and my vision has really developed since.
I used M6, M8 to M9, and Now only have M6 and M8. I am considering a Monochrome but never give up M8 and M6. I love summicron Lens and I have three of them.

Good interview. I was not able to join the live session, but luckily the recording came out. I think as a Leica (M) shooter you understand more and more about Leica philosophy and history having seen this. Good stuff! Thank you!

Hugh, there on the photo, which was shown by Dr. Kaufmann was Rene Burri, not Robert Frank. Kind regards and many thanks to you and to Dr. Kaufmann for a beautiful conversation.
