The influential traditional Irish group, The Bothy Band recorded a two-part concert for RTÉ Television in The Embankment Cabaret Rooms, Tallaght, Dublin on 29 September 1976.

Vivid memory of opening a parcel, living at home with my Connemara parents in Boston, MA 1977, contained therein, LPs- first two Bothy Band records, two De Danaan records, a couple of Chietftains albums, and sean nos singers from Carna Joe Heaney and Sean ac Donnca. There hasn't been a richer era for Irish trad music.

I'm so glad I managed to see their farewell concert at the Irish Centre in Leeds in 1979, I think it was.

Lots of voice, instruments. Honest and straight, no frills, rough edges. Irish folk how I love him. Besides Planxty and the Wolfetones one of my first records at the age of 13 :-D

Live music made flyover live. Speaking as a guy who plays harmonica by ear in a standing bluegrass jam.

How we love these beautiful melodies sung by beautiful vouces.. they must weary of them sometimes; bless them for keeping going so we can swing by every now and again and enjoy ❤

The stamp Ireland issued for the Bothy Band seems to be a picture of this performance. Unless they wear the same clothes for every performance.

Great to see them...and the sound! I don´t have their records, only homemade cassettes I received from a friend for over 40 years ago.

One of the best songs that prove that what's old is new again! I understand from my Irish friends that this one comes from the 17th or 18th century! Just one thing has always bothered me about it though: how did she know he needed a ladder with thirty steps and three???
