I always use fail2ban on anything with SSH enabled. And ufw enabled on everything to block any incoming ports other than needed unless it's from my local network. I rather VPN into the network rather than open SSH ports if there is an issue. I even tripple NAT my area of the network away from the kids or the general house one. But Debian eh stable secure it just works it's all lies
