Breaking news a couple of weeks ago Thailand open October 1st, a few days later Thailand open October 15th now today Thailand open November 1st. They keep moving the goal post.

Nice video Rob. Been married to a Thai lady for 48 years. I am from New Jersey and she is from Ubon. We have a house and cannot wait to go back. I just can't deal with the COE, the swabs up the nose, and all the other stuff like qaurantine. We are both vaccinated with both doses of Phizer. I wish the Thai government will just realize how much trouble it causes everyone. By the way, everything in the U.S. is open. Football stadiums are packed as well as the baseball playoffs. Thailand should do the same because I believe we all need to learn to live with Covid. Have a good day. John

Just got my second Moderna jab today in California. Will be sandboxing my way back in to Phuket on 11/19, will be staying in Kamala for the first 7 days. Cant wait to get back to Thailand.

The plan does kind of make sense. They know that missing another complete tourist season would be a disaster, so they need to go in hard vaccinating the areas tourists mainly go to as a priority, and hope it can be managed elsewhere. Hopefully towards the end of the year they'll be able to scrap some of the testing requirements, but that's less likely. They do need to allow businesses to properly open though - no curfews or alcohol bans. No fines for not wearing masks in the street.

It's a proposal but not yet agreed. If they can keep up the present high daily rate of vaccinations then it could happen but it wouldn't surprise me if it was moved again to mid-November, however you'll still have to stay in one of the 'sandbox' area for 14 days (although they're also talking about reducing that to 10 or 7 days).
It'll take them a few weeks to understand the process/procedures, so I'd wait a while for the bumps to be smoothed.
The other problem is whether they'll change the curfew, mandatory masks outside, restaurants being allowed to serve alcohol and nightlife to re-open.

As much as I want to be in Thailand, I won't be going until their vax rate is much higher and until I can fly direct to Chiang Mai. So its Europe Nov-Jan this year and hopefully Thailand in April for the remainder of 2022. Fingers crossed.
