Ep. 49: Star Wars: Jedi Unleashed Board Game Review (Hasbro 2002) + How To Play

A review on how to play Star Wars Jedi Unleashed: The Battle Of Geonosis.

Two to Five players take on the roll of the Jedi in a battle against creatures and droids on the Geonosis battle field. Players receive a number of Jedi cards from a random draw. The Jedi are distributed around the circular battle field as are the enemy. Players then move one of their Jedi and attack the enemy, followed by moving one of the enemy and attacking an opposing player's Jedi. The advanced game includes the Reek which players may try to climb upon and/or crush their opponents with. There is a built in mechanism that will end the game through use of Yoda moving along a track when a "Yoda" die face comes up. When he reaches the end of the track, it's game over (unless everything has been destroyed before then). Players win by destroying the most creatures, counting only those on their surviving Jedi cards. There is also a nice mechanism to allow an eliminated player back into the game using unclaimed Jedi cards.

The game comes with a sturdy mounted board, 18 Jedi cards, 3 special dice with attack labels, 74 hard cardboard Pawns with plastic stands, and rules.

How do you figure out how far a Jedi can move?
Your turn ended but you then attacked with Count Dooku and said it was something that you could do on your turn.
How do you decide how far Count Dooku, Jango Fett, or any of the "pawns" move if you decide to use them against your opponent?
I'd like to try this game but...damnit, I have questions!

Norm! Just got a great idea! Why don't you do a list of your favorite board games? A top 100, 50 or however many you can do. I would love to know what your favorites are!

May I recommend a house rule, it literally took me 3 seconds. Claim that you want to get off the reek, roll the Jedi die, on a lightsaber roll, you can get off. You can move and fight as normal.

Just got this game, it says you can move one Jedi and one enemy creature per turn. When attacking a Jedi and rolling a hit it says you can roll again but it doesn’t say what to do when you roll a miss. I assumed it is like rolling Yoda for Jedi and it’s a miss and that pawn’s turn is up. 6:29

Nice! I uploaded a few of my original vintage games. had creative fun with some of them . I did a stop motion gameplay of this one. I like this game. I show Bonkers also I see you have in the background. I watch Matt wilkins channel and vice versa. I'm working on my sister's original 1974 MB Which Witch? 3D board game for Halloween ;

+Board Game Museums, as per your previous video which you since took down (I didn't have the time to respond immediately/completely), asking for video suggestions. Not much comes to mind. I personally enjoy your thrift store hunting most. In looking at your channel then, it has 102 videos. By far the most popular ones are the 10 "How to Play" videos with around an average of 15000 views each. Next are the 51 "Game reviews" with on average 400 views each. Then there are 25 "Game Sessions" with an average of 300 views, followed by 3 "Top 10" and 8 "Thrift Store Finds and Fails" with a few hundred views per video, and finally 5 "General" videos of less than 100 views each. If you want more viewers, then clearly making more "How to Play" videos is your best net, followed far behind by "Game Review/Session" videos. You have a 350 board game collection to draw upon for all 3 series. Easier than making new videos is adding key words/tags to your videos so they come up more often in user searches. All your videos should be tagged "game, boardgame, vintage, out of print, thrift store" etc, and if appropriate "Parker Brothers, Milton Bradley, Avalon Hill, review, how to play, playing, session, strategy, dexterity", etc. Years ago YouTube use to publicly display video search tags, but not anymore, so I can't tell if you use many search tags or simply rely on the video title. I suspect the latter as your video view counts are low. You do use playlists for organization and convenience, and to encourage visitors to browse more videos, so kudos. The "Vintage Board Game Room" playlist should be renamed "Board Game Reviews", and a separate playlist made for the 10 "How to Play" videos (your by far most popular series) there now. A miscellaneous or general playlist of 5 videos would be nice. If you want to involve your viewers on a vote as you mentioned in that taken video you took down, why not suggest, at the end of a review video, a short list of games for a future review/how to/session video, and ask for a vote? Also link videos together, when doing say a review, mention the thrift store video where the game was bought and link (on screen and in the video description) to that video, and/or link to your playlist, and/or link to the previous and next episode in the series, etc. have links in the video description and on screen to make it easy for viewers to stay on your channel and browse more of your content. There are lots of board game channels on YouTube, why not look at the most successful and borrow a few techniques? Otherwise your channel is fine as is. Don't quite understand the low 558 subscription rate since you started regularly posting videos in 2014/2015.

I used to have this game. Found it very boring and tedious. Got rid of it.
