I ❤ watching your videos! I was intrigued by this prison one since I was a registered nurse and got a felony drug charge for prescription medications and was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison in Bryan, Texas 10 years ago. My experience was even more ridiculously accommodating than those in your video, if you can believe it! It was essentially like I was away at college. We lived in dormitories, I had makeup, a flat iron, curling iron, etc. We roamed freely on the grounds during the day but we’re required to be in our undoored “cells” for count at 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm. I worked as a GED teacher (everybody worked on grounds of course) Mon-Fri from 7-3 and after 4:00 count and weekends we could do what we wanted. We had volleyball courts, a softball field, track, and even a cosmetology school where inmates could get their cosmetology license! We could schedule appointments with the students to get our hair cut, dyed, you name it! We had a curfew to be back inside all dorms by 8:45 pm every night. One time I got injured during a volleyball game (yep we had teams and tournaments), and I had to go to the hospital… do you know how I got there?!? Another inmate driver. No guards, nothing. The inmate dropped me off at the hospital ALONE, and I sat at the local hospital in town and was seen by a doctor and they called the prison and had the inmate driver pick me back up after the appointment was done. On federal holidays we had the day off from work and the cafeteria was closed so we would always get a special meal, which consisted of steak, ribs, the works. I could go on and on, the only hard part was that I missed my family. I met quite a bit of repeat offenders that would become homeless after they were released due to no family support so they would do anything to violate their release terms just so they could go back to this pampered environment. There were about 1000 inmates on the grounds. It was obviously the lowest security level of prison, and nobody broke the rules because they didn’t want to lose all of the privileges they had. I’m a huge football fan and since I was a teacher inmate, I got access to the education building on weekends even though there were no classes and some inmate friends and I would bring popcorn and snacks and sit in my classroom and watch college football on the 65 inch flat screen TV all day in essential privacy! I could go on and on. I’m not sure if you have heard of Elizabeth Holmes who become a billionaire at like 19 with her blood sampling business called Theranos, but she was just sentenced to 11 years at the same prison. Anyway, I had to share!!

Allowing children to live in prisons with there parents, also teaches the kids that being in a jail is a normal place to be.

I’ve only heard of families in prison in countries that are so poor there is no system in place to care for children whose parents are unable to care for themselves. In some or maybe most of them, food is not provided by the government. Your family is responsible for feeding you while you’re in jail, and the wives and children of inmates are free to come and go, providing the inmate with his daily needs. It’s not about teaching kids jail is anything. It’s a matter of meeting the needs of the incarcerated, because the government doesn’t do it.

I personally believe in Rehabilitation rather than punishment. My God they're human beings in there. I believe they're a product of their environment and circumstances in life. The way that they're treated is truly inhumane. I wouldn't let my dog stay there the night. If they're treated with kindness and love and opportunity they will thrive. All prison is doing is giving them a place to stay until they can get out and do it again.

What are we doing?
🤔😔🙏🏻🤞🇨🇦✌

Most prisons in the UK well the newest build ones anyway have excellent living standards, from TV, kettle, phone and a shower/ toilet in your cell as standard, but then you can purchase gaming consoles and a variety of other products, it doesn't make it luxury living, prison is there to take away your liberty, when officers treat prisoners with dignity and respect then that makes there job a lot easier and safer,
