I wanted to make the layer transparent. I though this got me there, but failed at the last step. It isn't transparent. But it's the nearest I've got after dozens of tutorials!

Doesnt give us the knowledge on how to blend two different images. This is actually really unnecessary because to get the same result in less time, you could have turned down the opacity of the top layer. You don’t really blend these more than you do adjust opacity effectively.
