Katana vs Guan Dao (Enclosed Sword Fight)

The Weapons used are:
-Katana (the Musashi Katana)
-Guan Dao (It's the Hagaku Naginata, but its being used like a Guan Dao)

This video is a recording of two enclosure matches from a Sword Arts meeting in February 2019. The fight is within a small enclosed box that is marked off to ensure limited fighting space. Since neither fighter can advance or retreat very far they have to execute their movements accurately and skillfully in order to not lose ground. Lack of proper distancing will get you slain or pushed out.

guandao are a lot heavier, so its hard to feint like that, or blcok it. there is a chance the katana user deflected it, but he's not stopping a swing with a block. the idea of binding and rushing in with the katana the way to go. get in close where you got a whole blade to work with while controlling the handle.

The move that the katana wielder use on 0:20, if he used it on 0:13 he could've slashed him

Yeah uh, that’s not really a guan dao, that’s actually closer to a naginata, a real guan dao would have a much thicker blade. Not bashing the fight, or you guys, just pointing that out.
