PMDG Operations Center not connecting to server - quick help

If you have been unable to update your PMDG Boeing 737 airplanes on MSFS2020, you might have been greeted with the message "I was unable to reach PMDG's servers Certain features and disabled. Please check your connection, then restart the app to try again". In the app both the "Aircraft and Liveries" and "Global Flight Operations" tabs are greyed out and you can't get any software updates.
I thought the servers were offline for maintenance but this is not the case. Quick fix so you don't have to wonder like I did for two days :)
