Dancestars is an inclusive street dance for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The group consists of children and young adults who have been dancing together for 9 years and performed in the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics in Sheffield 2017. They have also performed in various venues in Sheffield, York, Leeds and Derbyshire. They have also grown up to be the best of friends.
This film was created to help raise awareness of learning disability.
It was filmed in January to March 2020, just before the UK went into its first lockdown due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
This film was premiered at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield on the 31st of October 2021.
The premier was attended by professionals from health, social care and education, as well as family and friends of Dancestars.
