Kushiyara River Treaty between India and Bangladesh - IN FOCUS | Drishti IAS English

During Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India from September 5 to 8, the two sides signed a slew of agreements, including the first water sharing agreement since the landmark Ganga Waters Treaty, 1996. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on sharing of the waters of the Kushiyara river, a distributary of the Barak river which flows through Assam, and then on to Bangladesh.

Kushiyara river agreement between India and Bangladesh this project is that related to water supply of the region of Assam and sylhet region of the Bangladesh in order to water supply for irrigation of the farmers which use to manage farming to rice and other vegetables thing the only supplier of water from the kushiyara to the region sylhet people .
And this mostly crucial for irrigation for Bangladesh rahimpur canal project .eight km long the canal .
And that India prospective to that Assam this river also the important for the region of Assam .
This is a distributary of the barak river. And the GoI give the water around152 auses in order to irrigation for Bangladesh people who live in the sylhet sprere . Mostly people depend on this river water for irrigation boro rice and other . We can say that the step of GoI for consolidate relationship to neibouring countries and also step up the free trade agreements. Whose impect to our economic growth bust and that take a more good steps for strenthing the growth.
