After Simon's condition worsened and he was moved to a hospice, he received a private letter of support from King Charles, expressing deep admiration and encouragement.

Tragically, Simon passed away on Monday, just before the King and Queen arrived in St Helier for their two-day visit to the Channel Islands.

The contents of the letter remain private, but it is understood that King Charles praised Simon as an inspiration and expressed how deeply moved he was by Simon's story.

Simon's dedication to aiding those in need left a profound impact on everyone who knew him. His passing is a great loss to his family, friends, and the many lives he touched through his work.
