Mario Kart World DIRECT HYPE!!! Hopes & Predictions!

The Mario Kart World Direct is almost here! So we invited fellow Mario Kart @Swiftjar to discuss our hope and predictions for it!

Imagine a battle royale battle mode. A bunch of racers dropped into the map and they have to remove all the other racers' balloons, while a zone restricts the courses they can go on.

Crash team racing had a story mode where you could unlock characters by beating them in races, but also unlock more content by beating time trial ghosts, cups and easteregg hunts.

I hope dlc comes in the form of new islands around the main map so like they could add a donkey Kong country island or a Hyrule kingdom island etc.

I like the idea of there being Boss Characters, and once you defeat them, they're unlocked as characters. It would explain how we don't have Petey Piranha and King Bob-Omb confirmed yet when they're both fan favorites

It’s crazy to me that no one else has really done the diddy Kong racing open world/story concept. I hope this is included.

9:58 Highkey same exact conpiracy theory. 7 Koopalings. 7 cups revealed so far. Maybe at the end of each Grand Prix, you race against one of the Koopalings and 22 enemies (potentially just the Mario enemy racers), and that's how you unlock them? Finish all 7 cups so far and unlock the Special Cup, mayhaps?

If they were to add a story mode, I hope it's structured like Missions from DS but with cutscenes in between.

They have to be hiding something pretty big to need an entire Direct, and that is exciting because I already LOVE what they've let us see at the NS2 Experience and Treehouses.

Since the food is specific to the region or track I think that's how we get specific costumes for characters. It fits in with the vibe of traveling the world/road trip vibe the whole game has. Same with unlocking certain characters

Something I realized about Mario Kart World is that we haven't seen battle mode, so here are my predictions:
-Balloon Mode has two mode: Elimantion (like in the older games) and point system (like in the newer games)
-Bob-omb Blast and Shine Runners return
-Double Deck returnes so all the Mario Kart 64 battle tracks got remakes

My prediction is there will be cars and roads.


In all seriousness, I think Ninji will be playable. Nintendo has been trying hard to put him in the spotlight recently.

Other characters I think are likely are: Spiny, Fuzzy, King Bombomb, E. Gadd, Talking Flower, and Thwomp/Thwimp.

Characters that I dont think are as likely but would like to see are: Vivian, R.O.B, Captain Falcon, Link, Zelda, Fox McCloud, Isabelle, Ashley, Geno, Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Sonic (lets be honest, he’s the most likely non-tendo character), Fawful, Wart, Tatanga, Undodog, Captain Syrup, Lord Krump, Kab-omb, Plesie, and Lava bubble.
