kathleen lights probably doesn't like THIS

a year ago KathleenLights uploaded her video "how i feel about KL polish" in which she explained why she would no longer be a part of the KL Polish brand, since Kathleen has launched Lights Lacquer and the rest is history. Someone who used to work with Kathleen has uploaded a video about why they also left KL polish, Katheleen Lights probably doesn't like this...... Let me know your opinion down below.

Bailey is a down to Earth queen & she would never.. when i think Bailey the first 2 colors i think of are yellow & red. No shade to Kathleen. There’s enough polish to go around.

Essie has a bright yellow. So does OPI. So does Sally Hansen. So does Revlon. Customers will buy a formula they like. If Simplynailogical comes out with a bright yellow, I'll buy it because I love her formula. People need to chill. Faded Glory has a black t-shirt. So does Armani. Buy whichever one you like.

My issue here is this:

When makeup companies create shades that are similar no one says anything. Why is it such a big deal when nail polish lines do the same? I could literally go to Walmart and get all those colors 🤣

It's my understanding that bailey chose what colors she wanted in her collab and one she really wanted was that yellow.i doubt it's a copy..its following trends

I don’t think this is shady at all. If anything, Melody and Kathleen probably have similar creative taste and that’s why they worked well together! There is no such a thing as new colors and I’m sure establishes polish companies had those colors before Kathleen 🤷🏽‍♀️
My favorite color is any shade of pink ☺️💕

I adore Bailey. She is very down to earth. She doesn’t go out of her way to do shady things. This is the first time I’ve ever heard her name on a channel like this! Haha. I don’t think either of them would like this blowing up so much. I think it’s a bit ridiculous, I have shades almost identical from different brands because they have different formulas. Like with what Bailey said about yellow. You usually need a few coats of yellow with other brands.This reminds me of when other music artists try to claim a basic rhythm that’s been used for ages.

I don’t think there’s anything suspicious about nail polish companies having similar colors. I totally understand both Kathleen and Melody’s perspectives. In every situation, everyone involved is experiencing it differently. I don’t think Kathleen had any control over how much Melody was getting paid or how much work she had to do, and I don’t think Melody had any bad feelings toward Kathleen when making the decision to leave KLP.
Btw, my favorite colors are black, red, and yellow!

as a nail tech since 2012 and a nail polish lover since long before i can tell you color dupes are a very common thing in the industry.
almost all brands have mostly similar colors, which is why they try to produce as many colors as possible, including ones unique to them (which will eventually be duped as well).
unlike with makeup when people shop mainly by brand in nail polish people look for specific colors and as long as the brand aligns with their morals (vegan/* free/etc.) they'll get whatever wherever...
if some people like certain colors they will also likely have them from different brands because the consistency, application, opacity, etc. vary between brands.
as for comparing colors via the brands' website basing on a photo of nail polish bottles... don't.
even color pools and "try me on" (when you see a virtual hand with the colors on the nails) are never a correct indication as lighting and various other factors involved in the photography and photoshopping of the official images effects the end result image vs. reality.
to be able to compare colors effectively you can only rely on swatching both colors on a swatch stick and comparing them or rely on other people who have done so.
whenever i shop for colors i can't see in reality for one reason or another i will google "brand name + color name" and rely on images of people's hands who own the color and used it and if i'm looking for a dupe i'll google "brand name + color name + dupe".

Why can’t other companies make the same damn yellow color nail polish like KL didn’t create that color and there are a lot more companies that make that color
