Building an Expandable Pedestal Dining Table — My most ambitious build yet!

In this video I am building an expanding pedestal dining table for a friend’s restaurant. I really wanted to stretch my skills and try some things I had only done in smaller pieces, or not at all. It was a marathon of a build, and I am super happy with the finished piece. This build included plenty of interesting techniques including turning, cutting veneers, router inlays, segmented rings, cutting circles, and more!

That’s next level my friend. Awesome work. Glad you can keep going through these troubling times. I’m finding inspiration in my garden again which has lacked for some time. Reminds me of a dining table we had when i was a kid.... the center portion was tucked underneath. When unfolded, you can place two extra seats.

You guys are exceptionally talented ‘artists’!! Phenomenal. Thankyou for producing such fabulous videos and craftsmanship.
I’m making a similar table but concerned the equaliser extending rails will be visible without an apron around the underside of the table top and wondering if you had a rule of thumb / ratio of table base width to table top to ensure it doesn’t tip (particularly when extended).
