-Welcome To the Jungle Intro Riff (TAB vs. Reality)
Yet another riff that was tabbed wrong and screwed me up for several years. Man these videos are fun to make. :) Thanks for watching.
Thanks!!!

Matt sorum comes in on the wrong beat (which is very rare, killer drummer) which really throws slash off and he looks over to him like "wtf man!"

Goodness, Mike, how many bad tab books are there? This is by far my favorite series of yours.

I remember back in the 80s being at the mall music shop and having that exact book in my hand. Another kid says "don't buy it, it's wrong!". He was right, but judging by this series, so were all the other books in the rack! 😂

Little tip : If the string skipping to the open B from the D string is too tough, just hit the b note on the g string at the 4th fret. It's less right hand movement. This is how I used to play it live and actually think it sounds better. So - open b while fretting the G sting, and 4th fretted G while finishing the riff on the D and A stings.

Great explanation to an iconic riff. Well done. I love your patient approach and how you use the before, after, no delay, delay, etc. Really great teaching style.

This album single handedly got me to pick up the guitar. Definitely one of the greatest albums of all time. And if you listen to it with headphones you can hear slash in one ear and Izzy in the other. The rhythms compliment each other so well are so well done that you can’t tell who is the rhythm and who is the lead. Thanks for the video.

God bless my guitar teacher back when I started, cuz the dude actually knew it (and taught it) the correct way. Rock on, Rul...!
Also, Slash being "Chemichally impaired" really cracked me up lol

I had that tab in a book from the late 80s or early 90s, drove me nuts. It's easily the hardest GnR riff to play crystal clean properly. But it's a heck of a great exercise in general for string skipping

When you listen to the recording at about 20 seconds in, he reverts to the "official" tab and it is simplified. But yes in the 20 second intro it is how you described it to a T. But after that it simplifies.

"Little bit chemically impaired"? Let's face it, he was totally wasted🤣

🤘🏻🔥 Awesome! I've actually had this in my head the past few days. Loving the split camera angle on this.

Congrats on 715K Subscribers! 🤘🏻🔥

Master that Riff does a good job teaching this intro. Apparently the delay was added in post by the producer to just the first few notes only. The delay effect is achieved by pedaling off the open B string.

This took me forever to learn. The up stroke on the B String every time.

I have that same book, starting learning from it in the late 80s (one of the first I got) when I started playing. I saw this immediately and couldn't comprehend how they screwed ut up so bad that even a kid who just started can tell.

The version from the tab book is probably how Axl thinks Slash plays it 😂
Lol

When Slash makes those crazy eyes its because the damn drum came in a beat behind!

I got the appetite book for Christmas when I was in 7th grade in 1989 from my sister. I had a Korean knockoff “strat” and a Yamaha 50 watt amp.

If you want to learn exactly how slash plays it watch the episode of Nikki Sixx My Favorite riffs with Slash. Nikki Sixx asks Slash how to play the intro correctly so Slash shows him how to play it the right way.

Seeing the "correct" tab reminded me of how that song is charted on Guitar Hero 3, where they come back to the orange notes during the riffs, for precisely the B string notes

Forget the riff. Who would make a Radio Shack shirt nowadays. Very cool!
