Fun fact: When my family first came to the US, they didn’t know anything about our customs, so neither did their kids. My aunt, mom, and uncle didn’t know what thanksgiving was until they were in elementary school, and they asked why they didn’t celebrate it. Wanting to fit in more with their American contemporaries, my very German family quickly threw together a thanksgiving and celebrated it for a few years before deciding it was too much of a hassle. Now our tradition is to get Chinese food and not go anywhere.
