On 19 January, for the first #euroscola session of 2018, some 485 high-school students and their teachers from 20 EU countries occupied the seats of MEPs in the hemicycle of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

For one hour, they had an exchange of Q&A with the German MEP Michael Gahler, ranging from the consequences of Brexit on the EU and the integration challenge of migrants in the European society, to the integration of youth on the job market.

During the schools' presentations, the two Swedish female delegates, referring to the recent #MeToo campaign, invited their European fellows to speak out on potential sexual abuse ("it is not the victims who should be ashamed, but the offenders") and called for equal opportunities for girls and boys.

While the Hungarian delegates were showing their traditional costumes, the delegate from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, gave an outstanding folk dance performance. See for yourself! ;-)

The afternoon was dedicated to working groups, their conclusions and the vote on some key EU issues.

The concluding words of this day are those pronounced by a young delegate: "Today, we should make our Europe great again!"
