In honor of the new PBS special 'Black Church: This is Our Story, This is Our Song', an intimate four-hour series from Henry Louis Gates Jr, let’s watch dancer Terrence Paschal from Embodiment Project's own tribute to Black spiritual life. Here he performs to one of his favorite gospel-themed songs, "By Myself" by Jason Walker.

Terrence Paschal is a Stockton native who discovered his love of dance as a turf dancer. Paschal believes in the medicine inherent in dance, and hopes to share that in a very honest way with others.

Directed and Produced by Yo Ann Martinez
Director of Photography: Benjamin Michel
2nd Camera Operator: Seretse Njemanze

Dancing is done with the feet. The whole body moves along! I miss seeing more feet and legs. That's what makes it s "dance". 😏😉
