Wanting to change your wipers on a Mercedes? Here's a hidden tip and trick to do just that!

On some older Mercedes models, this tip doesn't work so do this:

Engine on / Ignition on
Door open
Operate wipers like normal
When they are vertical, turn the engine / ignition off

Many thanks for this tip Nick. Following the owners manual 'to the letter' for this on my wife's 2023 face lifted A200 I was pulling my hair out because these instructions are INADEQUATE. What they fail to mention is that in order to work the drivers door must be open!! Who intentionally opens the door and then starts pressing window wiper buttons? Der....

Had similar wipers on our Honda e, but didn't know about it until we noticed the paint on the bonnet and been worn away where the wipers hit.
Trading that car in for an EQC now, so will definitely be more careful!

How do you chance the rear wiper? It seems I can't lift it without meeting resistance.

Not only that you can change, you have to change them, especially for the A class, they will judder like crazy if you dont change them.

You can also open the engine cap and do it

As per other comments the user manual is inadequate neglecting that the door must be open. I can also add if the bonnet has been popped open this this will not work as the wipers are disabled

I wonder if it can also work like a BMW and a VW, where if you put your wipers on auto before switching the car of it disengages the wiper motor and sorta put it in a neutral or something something like that and you can just move they wiper by yourself and and change it and when you turn the car on it will fix it’s self to its place

I slightly pull / push them up, it works too

You can just move by hand without pulling up

Excuse me for my ignorance or misunderstanding, but I thought that moving the wipers into the service position - as you did in this video - has been quite common knowledge for any modern car for years

Excellent, many thanks for all your videos and tips etc... they are extremely useful. I have just had a 1st service of my GLA and they wing mirrors have stopped going in / out automatically with opening and closing the doors with the key fob . I need to do it via the switch now on the drivers door panel. Perhaps you can help?
