I love the way Adam controls a stage. He knows the power of performance. Not his best track, but his voice is lush and full without the need for excessive reach. The eyes wide shut references in this track could have such a double meaning. The fact he doesn’t sing this as a passionate love song full of longing, but rather as someone trying to understand from a distance suggests there is more to the emotions of this song than meets the eye. The lines “It’s like I can’t even feel after the way you touched me” and “I walk around and feel so lost and lonely. You’re everything I want, but you don’t want me” to me implies manipulation and perhaps more in this ended relationship.

The studio version has Orianthi on the guitar solo and it is fire! Like others have said, every live performance of this song is different. There's an iHeart Radio live version that's also amazing, in a more intimate and raw setting than this one. How did he not win American Idol? 🙂 (Trivia question: who beat him and where is that performer now?)
