Why are sharks afraid of dolphins?

We all know that the reputation of a shark is exactly opposite from the reputation of a dolphin. We view sharks as monsters in the ocean because it attacks humans, while dolphins are the adorable and friendly sea creature. Which makes us wonder if the statement that ‘sharks are afraid of dolphins’ are really true?

To answer that question, listen carefully.

Sharks are natural predators in the ocean that simply fulfill their need to eat for their survival. They earned their bad reputation since they attack humans nearby especially when they are hungry. But did you know that sharks don’t prefer humans as their main food source? Yes, they don’t prefer us unless we are their last option for survival. We should also know that the average number of shark attacks in a year is 84 cases. However, humans kill hundreds of millions of sharks every year. These threats the endangered species of sharks such as the great white sharks, hammerhead sharks and whale sharks.

As much as sharks should be scared of us, humans, they also fear dolphins, despite of having a large body and sharp teeth.

Here are the reasons why dolphins are scary for the sharks’ perspective.
First reason is that,
dolphins are very intelligent mammals while sharks are not. They are as intelligent as gorillas that could recognize their mirror reflections. Aside from that, dolphins are also emotionally intelligent and display emotions similar to joy and grief. This gives dolphins a great advantage to outsmart attacks while sharks being not intelligent are really at risk in battling dolphins with excellent wits.

And so they say, your mind is your best weapon. Right?
