Dear Cyber Security Enthusiast, Want a Career in Cyber Security? Here are 4 ways including 11 Training Videos that will help you become a SOC Analyst.

Knowledge = Power.

No one cares how you gain your knowledge. They just care that you know it. When you can describe how your use your favorite SIEM, have a deep conversation about packet analysis, or how to tune an IDS, they aren't going to care whether you acquired your knowledge through a boot camp, college, or YouTube.

I have found 11 video resources that will help you fine tune your skills in Defensive security so that you can become a valuable SOC Analyst.

🔵 SIEM Tools:

🔵 IDS Tools:

🔵 EDR/XDR Tools:

🦈 Wireshark - Everything the internet does uses packets. Being able to break down and analyze packets to fully understand them and know what they are doing will truly help you understand nearly any SOC tool that you touch. Here is a full Wireshark Masterclass that I found for you:

If you understand these and can communicate clearly about them, you are paving the way to a great future working from your pajamas. Remember, the more knowledge you have, the more powerful force you will become in this great field.

Great video mate! As a SOC Analyst myself, this is great advice for aspiring analysts! I'd also suggest, if you're looking into learning about SIEMs, pick one & focus on that one. Whether it's Splunk, Qradar, etc, pick one & learn as much as possible. Once you know one really well, it's a lot easier to transition to whatever SIEM a company might use! (Still learn the basics of the other big SIEMs though, but the knowledge will generally be transferable from one to the other.).

Keep it up man!

Thanks for sharing. It really makes sense because you have to know the tools to do the work. I have been working as network admin for past 5 years so I have done a little bit of cybersecurity. I get logrhythm tickets from our cyber team and we perform incident response tasks. I really want to go full on soc analyst and work remote.

Hey, thank you for the advice. Can I ask if you could make a video on the software that we should learn. Like a video of you stating what software to use and learn

Friend, in theory this is all correct. But in practice this doesn't work. Because especially lately. For some reason that is strange to me. Companies in the US decided to initially filter resumes without a bachelor's or master's degree. And even if it really is true, I personally spent a huge amount of time studying cyber security for a year in my professional course. Almost all companies either do not respond at all or say that they will continue to consider other candidates. Is having a bachelor's degree and specialized certificates a guarantee that this is the most worthy candidate? Of course not . But companies act precisely on this principle. At least in the USA.

Hey there! If I'm someone with no IT experience, is it still possible?
I read people on Reddit saying you need experience as IT support or system admin.
What do you think?
Thank you for your advice!
