Overview

A stylish new compact sedan will soon be added to the Kia lineup to replace the current Forte, and will be called the K4 and slot below the larger K5 family sedan. The K4 features a fastback roofline inspired by the Stinger sports sedan and flared rear fenders that give the car a sporty stance. The base engine will be the same 147-horsepower four-cylinder that powered last year’s Forte. The 190-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder is exclusive to the top-tier GT-Line Turbo trim. The K4 is slightly larger than the outgoing Forte, and Kia says the interior is more spacious, especially for those sitting in the back seat, putting it in line with other compact sedans such as the Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Jetta. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to drive one, as the K4 is expected to arrive in Kia dealerships in the fall of 2024. We’ll have to wait a bit longer for the handsome hatchback version, which Kia says will be available in the U.S. later, likely in the 2026 model year.
