it’s so damn weird to see this because my parents are in a sorority and fraternity and they actually do cool stuff like organize events and do service/charity work, what i just saw feels borderline cultish 💀

That’s really an American thing, we don’t have those in Europe. We are encouraged to create our own school association ( dance, music, food distribution, charity…) or business start ups ( work agencies ..) The school/uni give us more credits but those extra curriculums are not mandatory, also learning another language brings the same amount of credits. And we don’t pay money of course, we actually get money from sponsors: banks or local businesses in exchange for advertisements… the school give us the rooms/locals that we need .

I always hear horror stories of girls getting initiated into sororities and just end up pulling ridiculous stunts that get them severely hurt or killed. I'm sure many frats/sororities aren't like this lol, but I'm glad I just did my own thing during my college times😌

Apparently not all Frats are like the stereotypical ones. Some are actually about helping out their members and their communities. They have wholesome events and do community service and fundraisers and stuff.

...And some are just like the stereotype of a bunch of drunk guys screwing around.

Frats, sororities, gangs, clubs, groups, teams. Because humans are social creatures and given todays lack of purpose, people often want to belong to somthing.

They are seriously messed up on today's standards, they must bring in an awful lot of money for them to still be around considering how many students in Greek life are injured or die from the hazing going on there
