I suggest everyone who watches this go to guitar center and play the intro for an hour straight. The employee's and customers will love you!

I was donated an electric guitar in mint condition a couple years ago, yesterday I was thinking about throwing it away but I loved guns and roses so I tried to play a song, I got lost in your video but I used some of the notes and figured out on my own from there how to play the rift, and I fell in love with my guitar, thanks dude

@MAdamStewartVideo Hey, it is the same EJ strat but I just change out the pickups. These lessons were all done at different times and I might have had the original single coils or the Dimarzio's in depending on when it was filmed. Thanks for watching! :)

Thanks for this. Numbed my fingers starting to learn this last night. Lost myself for more than an hour getting in to it. It's exactly the sort of thing that'll keep a beginner like me really interested. Strumming away on chords and learning them is fine as part of the ground work but I find getting a tune out of the guitar far more likely to keep me at it.

keep practice it, play it slow at first until you didn't miss a note and slowly become faster, if you always miss a note at some part, just replay it over and over again, i hope it helps, that's what i do btw if you keep practicing it, you'll find out this song is not that hard :)

Love the tutorials. When I first started playing this, I didn’t realize it, but Slash was a genius how he put this together. Simply put It is playing a box scale pattern. We didn’t have YouTube back then, yeah yeah I’m old, and the snippets from the music video wasn’t much help. I learned how to play this intro with aaaaLot of movement on the fretboard to different positions, which looked cool 😎, but never really hit each note correctly. It was close enough for a bar band playing to a crowd of “happily” oiled patrons. They never noticed the difference, we were the only ones who knew. The drunker they got, the better we sounded! 😂

I would like to mention that if you don't feel like down-tuning to play with the recording, you can play the whole thing half a step down (e.g. fret 12 would become fret 11, fret 14 becomes fret 13, etc). It's personally very convenient for me since I don't like messing with my tuning too much.

Thank-you for doing tutorials in standard tuning!!!!
nothing annoys me more than looking for a tutorial to learn a bit of a song i can't quite get from tab, and having to detune my guitar just to have a look at the tutorial - far easier to explain at the beginning that its played detuned but the tutorial is standard

I absolutely LOVE the variety on this channel! It's beautiful and such high quality lessons! I am eternally grateful! I'm waiting to get my first guitar this month and I can barely wait to follow along your lessons! If you could, please do more Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan if you could. Thank you and God bless you 😊.

I wish youtube recommended me this channel 8 years ago when I actually wanted to play, it would have immensely encouraged me. U make everything seem easy

I remember being given a very bad tab to this intro, and just giving up then coming back and spending about an hour and a half learning it by ear, and getting the timing to match the drums. I was so proud of that because it was the day after I got an electric guitar such fond memories.
