May not be a premium steel, but you can't argue with that price. Also, 0.118 is a very thin spine so it should slice well.

Why 8Cr13MoV? Because this knife isn't meant for those of us who appreciate premium steel. This is a 'entry level' knife is meant to attract a budget minded knife buyer who wouldn't ordinarily buy a Spyderco because of the price. That said, this would make a nice beater/truck knife for hopping out cutting asparagus, spur of the moment utility, gutting a road kill 'possum for dinner, etc. If someone breaks in your truck and steals it, So what? Buy two, keep one by the Sharpmaker so you always have a fresh one.

I absolutely love my Spyderco Phil Wilson Bow River. I EDC it all the time But...I want to see them move production OUT OF CHINA & AWAY FROM THE CCP.
This knife would be epic in D2 or even just AUS8 but all made in Taiwan.

Why not BD1 or BD1N? Or even 440C? I mean from his S90V to 8Cr13MoV? That's a huge downgrade.

I have nothing against China, only against Spydercos that made in China😉

lets by honest here, 8crmov13 for a camp/fishing knife is not a good idea. you will be sharpening that thing every time you have to use it. that blade will always have chips and dings in it. but i do love the looks of it.

You lost me at "origin China." No way I buy commie knives. Taiwan yes, Communist China no. Two countries; two systems.
